Mary the MC

Mary is a dynamic, energetic, fun & professional MC. The master of ceremonies, MC or emcee plays a critical role in any conference or event. Fundamentally the role of master of ceremonies is to link the plenary speakers or events by providing introductions for each speaker and relevant comments after each speaker.

Mary has the ability to be able to come into her own when something doesn't go to plan. The quality emcee Mary is, is being able to 'fill' five minutes while an audio visual problem is being addressed or adjust the schedule when a speaker speaks for too long or finishes early. Mary has the ability to gauge an audience and execute a plan to perfection when it comes to any event. Mary has over 8 years’ experience as a MC. She has hosted events from Birthdays, Christmas Functions, Charity Dinners, Conferences, Fundraisers, Product Launches & even the odd wedding.

Below are a sample of only some of the references from organisations who have used Mary (as well as Megan Alatini), who has hosted events with Mary as for 5+ years. Megan an established Television Personality, Entertainer and singer is able to offer quite an experience for guests. They make a dynamic fun duo on any stage.

"Mary was the perfect MC for our Pink Ribbon Brunch held in June this year.  She was very professional and passionate about the cause, which was reflected on the day.

She was very experienced in every aspect of the day, from assisting with the models, order of the day and her humor and quick whit added to the occasion, making it an extremely fun and memorable day for everyone who attended.”

Barry - Owner, Prospect of Howick

"Mary was absolutely awesome. She understood the event and the audience and added great colour and class to the overall event. Her ad-libbing and sense of humour was great. Stress levels were high,as we had Prime Minister John Key arrive late to the event, but Mary worked closely with our Event Producer and with her natural ability to deal with the pressure of a live situation, she was able to put us at ease and really carried the show for us - which was fabulous (and with the help of a two way earpiece system). We would definitely recommend Mary and would love to have her involved in the charity again."

“We were delighted to have Mary & Megan host our recent milestone event where we celebrated The Coffee Club’s 50th store opening. It was a night of celebration, fun, laughter and coming together with a range of guests in attendance.  The night was made extra special because of the genuine enthusiasm that Mary and Megan injected into the night as hosts.  This is evident in the numerous positive comments we received from the guests not only on the night, but the several days after the event as we reminisced with others. The Coffee Club’s 50th celebration would not have been the same without Mary and Megan, and I am very happy to give them my sincere endorsement.”
Andy Lucas, Director – The Coffee Club New Zealand

“We first met Mary Haddock-Staniland & Megan Alatini when I approached their publicist to MC our Pink Ribbon Fashion Breakfast show in conjunction with Grangers Taphouse & Augustine International.  The first time we met Mary & Megan we felt like I had of known them for years – they are two of the kindest, generous woman we have ever met. On the day of the event both of them did such a fantastic job, all 150 guests loved having them host the show, they made everyone laugh and made everyone feel so comfortable. Our show was such a great success and we absolutely think it was down to Mary and Megan.
I highly recommend anyone who is putting together an event, and you need some dynamic, friendly, outgoing, fun MC’s to “work” your audience, you will highly impressed with their professionalism.”

“During May 2014, ASB introduced its Diversity & Inclusion initiative. A month later as part of this, an ever growing group of ASB employees formed a LGBTI pillar in the initiative called Unity, to support our colleagues to bring their whole-selves to work, to leverage from diversity and create a warm, inclusive work environment.  In July 2014, Unity held its first event to introduce itself bank wide, celebrate the banks’ attainment of the Rainbow Tick accreditation and meet the New Zealand Falcons team.  We engaged Mary to be our MC because she was able to use her own background and experiences to engage the audience at a high-level on the subject of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I).

She was wonderful. Not only was she professional, flexible and fun, she introduced key speakers including ASB CEO Barbara Chapman, engaged the audience and got across the whole point behind the event. Being a bit green in organising such an event, Mary’s expertise was also incredibly supportive to our team in the lead up. I simply couldn’t have achieved such a successful event without her.”

“Stretton Clothing Company Ltd (Annah Stretton) has a long history of bringing together its retail managers for our annual conference. As you can imagine it is an ideal time to share the company vision and build team spirit. It is also a vital point in our calendar to celebrate the success of our teams' efforts for the current year.  To best achieve this an evening of awards, celebration and fun is organised to wrap up the conference.

We invited Mary Haddock-Staniland to MC our event. While we had a good knowledge of Mary's character before the event we were unsure of just how well she would drive our agenda for the awards dinner. Congratulations must go to Mary for her outstanding work as our MC. Professional, aware of our needs, sensitive to the mood of the audience, hilarious yet balanced and sincere when necessary. I can recommend Mary without hesitation.”
Tony Hope, GM, Stretton Group

“Dear Mary,
I would like to thank you so much for hosting our Ladies Night at Varsity Rugby Club earlier this month.

Your professionalism was fantastic and the way you were able to make the evening come together for us was brilliant.  With you on board I was able to feel at complete ease knowing that I had you there to fill the gaps with your humour and talent to keep things going. The male review show was absolutely funny and having you edge the boys along was a complete hoot.

Once again thank you so much for everything. I would definitely use you again and recommend you to host anyone’s event should they ask me for advice.”
Jan Pratt, Club Administration Manager,
